The number and value of IPOs declined by over 30% worldwide in Q2 20, as shown in these two stacked bar charts. Covid-19 IPO impact was felt across the three regions tracked by the EY Global IPO Trends Q2 2020 Report. The largest declines were in EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa) where the number of IPOs declined 66% from 86 to 29 and IPO proceeds declined 60% from $16.7B to $6.7B. The Americas region had a 47% decline in IPO count and a 46% decline in IPO proceeds. In Asia-Pacific IPO proceeds increased, however, even as their number declined.

How I Made These Stacked Bar Covid-19 IPO Impact Charts
Here is the Covid-19 IPO data I used to create these charts:
Here's how I made the left stacked chart:
- create a 1/2 page chart in PowerPoint (default is stacked bar)
- enter Covid-19 IPO data as above in the Mekko Graphics Data Editor from the EY Report
- open Bars and Series to set % Change as data column
- add legend and show at bottom of chart
- type in y axis title
- hide x axis and y axis, except for title
- show values only in segment labels and set this for all bars
- add bar comparison line
- adjust internal chart margins
- move data column label to align with bar total
- hide last legend item and move legend to far right of bottom
Copy this chart and paste it on the right. Change the data, format numbers and change y axis title. Show last legend item and hide first two. Move legend to far left.
