Massachusetts students scored higher than the US and OECD averages in reading, science and math in the PISA test. Singapore scored highest and outperformed Massachusetts in all three subject test with the biggest gap in math. The data are summarized in the chart below:
The cluster bar chart allows for comparisons across the three tests and four regions. I found the chart easier to read as a horizontal cluster bar. I added an axis break to focus on the differences in across regions. I also colored the series to highlight Massachusetts, in red, while showing the other regions in shades of gray.
